Frankly it's a load of bullshit but after my grandfather pound it into my head to get one, I finally did. But guess what... I fucking got H1N1 anyway... hahahahhaha
All I can say is it feels like you've been hit by a mac truck, drug about 3miles by the trailer's stray chain, then ran over by a steam roller. Yea, it fucking sucks lol. But its just like any other flu. It hit me so hard cause I haven't had the flu at all since I was 13, here I am 21 and I get it now, so it's like me getting it for the first time ever.
Also learned that some types of flus work differently, namely H1N1 works kinda like AIDs, don't know you have it till it's too late. Well that was my case cause after I got the shot I thought my body took a shitty allergic reaction to it... no, that's just the fucking flu kicking in XD
It took about 2 days of me being completely miserable and hoping to just die already before I finally went to the hospital for a check-up for some advice. That was kind of a mistake since my resting heart rate literally scared the hell out of my doctor (103bpm) not to mention my fever was 102.9 yet I was shivering and cold. he was more stunned that I hadn't had a heart attack or even fainted with a rate that high at a rest and just today when he visit me in my room, he said the reason he didn't tell me that day was for fear of alarming me and sending me over the edge lol.
I figured it was something outrageous though just from his reaction, his eyes literally popped.
Well after being in intensive care for about a WEEK! they turn me loose (today) and everything is stable now so crackers and soup, here I come! >:3 lol
As for the media, don't let that crap startle you, my mother and I had a long talk when she found out I was in the ER and just as I thought before, every flu is dangerous and a pest to get rid of. They all dehydrate the body, make you cough, make you feel like you've swallowed a batch of cacti, and send your bodies temp regulation system on a roller coaster ride. I could go through the exact symptoms I was going through but I'd rather not cause honestly people just need to get off their ass and go the the doctor to be checked upon signs of obvious flu like symptoms.
the ones who die are those who sit around till the last minute then want to run into the hospital cause all their home remedy didn't work. Not saying all the deceased have died from that mindset but the most have.
I'm slowly learning each day just how tough the human body can be and how persistent it can be too. But even people with great immune systems can't just lie around on their ass chanting 'yea, I'm healthy, I'll heal up in no time'. I'm saying this because while I did kinda have that mindset, only in the manner of 'well, I haven't had a flu since I was 13 nor have I had a shot, why the hell worry about it?' well it caught me by surprise lol.
The body can withstand a mess of things and will fight to stay healthy if you allow it, that sometimes means breaking down your ego-trip and hauling your ass to the doctor even if it is for a simple check-up.
